Dhanteras – the thirteenth day of the lunar cycle of the karthik period according to hindu calendar and marks the beginnings of the Diwali celebrations.
In India, today is naturally celebrated as Ayurveda Day and we at Rockholm celebrate by performing Lakshmi and Dhanvantari Pooja in Ayurveda.
Celebrating the rebirth of goddess Lakshmi, blessing us with prosperity and wealth, it is also the day that as an Ayurvedic practitioner, we give homage to Lord Dhanvantari, the god of Ayurvedic medicine and the physician of gods who appeared from the churning of the ocean of milk (samudra manthan) with #amrut – the nectar and elixir of life, a leach, a conch shell and a spinning wheel, bringing the wisdom of Ayurveda to be imparted to mankind to relieve human suffering.
We honour and give gratitude to Lord Dhanvantari for this wisdom with love and devotion.
