Why the guest came to Rockholm

A 43-year-old female guest sought an Ayurveda stay after two years of breathing-related discomfort, including wheezing and breathlessness that she associated with dust and strong winds. She also mentioned chest pain, dizziness and anxiety, and described limitations on travel and ordinary daily activities.

The Ayurvedic assessment

The Ayurveda consultation recorded Kapha–Vata Vikruthi (an imbalance involving the Kapha and Vata doshas). The Ayurvedic assessment informed the programme, but does not establish the cause or severity of her respiratory symptoms.

The personalised Ayurveda programme

Following consultation, the physician planned and monitored a combination of the following recorded approaches:

  • Rookshana — drying or reducing therapies: Avikizhi (a bolus of medicated powder warmed in the steam of a medicated decoction) and Kashayadhara (pouring of a prescribed herbal decoction)
  • Snehana — oleation: Snehapanam (physician-directed intake of medicated ghee or oil) and Abhyanga (medicated-oil massage)
  • Swedana — warming/sudation therapies: Narangakizhi (citrus-based bolus application), Nadisweda (directed steam) and Elakizhi (herbal leaf-bolus application)
  • Shodhana — Virechana (physician-supervised therapeutic purgation)
  • Other support — Shamana Chikitsa (individualised symptom-calming Ayurveda care), prescribed internal medicines, yoga, meditation, diet and lifestyle guidance

How the stay unfolded

The guest had breathing discomfort when she arrived, and the discomfort persisted during the first week of the stay. The doctor confirmed that it subsequently subsided while she was receiving prescribed medication and Ayurveda therapies. Later in the stay, she reported feeling more relaxed and experiencing greater breathing comfort; this does not establish which part of her care contributed to the change.

What the guest reported by the end of the stay

At the final review, she described easier breathing and a calmer state of mind compared with the beginning of her stay. The record does not provide objective respiratory measurements or demonstrate a change in the underlying condition.

A note from the Rockholm physician

Breathlessness, wheezing, chest pain and dizziness warrant careful conventional medical assessment. This account concerns supportive wellbeing during a physician-led stay, not asthma treatment or a replacement for prescribed respiratory medication. Her aftercare included individual medicine and lifestyle guidance.

faq's

No. Guests must continue medical assessment and prescribed care for respiratory conditions. Any medication change should be decided by their treating medical clinician.

An Ayurveda physician reviews the guest’s history and suitability before selecting therapies and wellbeing practices.

Worsening breathlessness, chest pain or severe dizziness needs prompt medical attention; wellness therapies must not delay emergency care.
